Jeanne-Marie Harris

Jeanne-Marie’s vocal training varies from classical to contemporary genres. After successfully gaining her classical training from one of the best voice teachers in New Orleans, she was eager to experiment with other styles of music. A move to explore the town of Nashville, TN and obtain her Bachelors of Music degree at Belmont University helped her artistic vocal style to continue to grow and develop. She experimented with styles ranging from country blues, to pop-soul, to funk; all the while, holding onto her classic New Orleans roots. While Nashville was a wonderful place for her to develop her musical skills, there was still something missing-- the city that she originally fell in love with.  The city that is full of so many different and vibrant people, musical styles, and love from her family and friends—New Orleans.

Since moving back to the musical melting pot that is New Orleans in 2014, Jeanne-Marie along with her soulful and eclectic vocal style settled in its perfect niche. Born out of her time, she has always felt a kinship to the classical times of years gone by. The clearness, class, and beauty of a classical singer mixed with the edge and quirkiness of more modern styles, led to her finally find her perfect sound in the New Orleans jazz scene. She has been blessed with the luck of meeting and having the opportunity to work with some of the finest jazz musicians in the city who inspire her and continuously push her to her ever growing music repertoire.

She can be seen (along with her entire close knit New Orleans family as her entourage) performing these classic American Jazz Standards tonight on our Saloon stage!
